Commission work
commission a bespoke project
Matt specialises in working closely with partner organisations, charities, community groups, faith groups, and commissioners to create bespoke projects.
Past commissions have seen Matt use an applied drama approach to highlight issues, increase group cohesion, raise awareness of inequalities, and provide opportunities for groups with limited access to the arts.
Examples of previous bespoke projects include:
Derby Poverty Truth Commission
A six month rolling project hosting community participants with lived experience of poverty. Applying the principles of storytelling, scriptwriting, poetry and drama to create a showcase delivered by participants, with complex and diverse needs, to an audience of counsellors, business leaders, community reprsentatives within Derby.
Mottram Educational Foundation.
A twelve month project of making community drama from gathered oral histories. Children and young people dramatised the reminiscences of older adults from a local residential home. The process involved interviews over afternoon tea, research and development, devising workshops and performances in schools, supported housing, and local community centres.
Hope UK
A one day workshop using applied drama to equip young people to make drug-free choices. Utilising drama exercises to develop peer resistance skills and decision-making tools. The day culminated in an informal sharing of devised scenes from group members around themes of making pro-social choices.
If you want to explore a particular theme with your group, develop a project around a specific topic or would like your group to devise a performance highlighting specific issues, then please get in touch.
Matt specialises in working closely with partner organisations and commissioners to ensure the project/performance meets your needs exactly.
